Michael HartigMichael Hartig – is a founding partner of Capital Markets Advisors, bringing over 30 years of Capital Markets experience for a wide range of financial services institutions, including investment banks, private banks, mortgage companies, broker-dealers, asset managers, family offices, hedge funds, industry utilities and related service vendors.  His applications experience has covered a broad spectrum of disciplines, including global securities trading, front and back office processing for buy and sell side firms, financial & tax reporting, exchange operations and systems and regulations, risk management, portfolio & partnership accounting and performance, investment banking, and database/data communications. Michael has assisted a wide range of independent, full-service and bank-owned broker dealers in the evaluation of custody and clearing alternatives as well as the implementation of a variety of service bureau and software package options for custody and clearing across a diverse mix of securities products.  Michael has worked with major institutions to transform their custody and clearing capabilities through a variety of methods, including corporate acquisition, software development, service bureau implementation and a combination of integration strategies.  Prior to his Big 4,  IBM and Capco  consulting experience for some of the leading global banks and broker/dealers over the last 15 years, Michael ran Capital Markets Technology for Paine Webber and was responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s trading, research, analytics and middle office processing systems, including all trading floor/exchange and related lending systems.  He was also responsible for building their correspondent clearing and prime brokerage systems including securities lending.  Michael has been an active participant on a number of industry committees for SIFMA, OCC and FIF.

 

Van HatziyianisVan Hatziyianis – is a founding partner of Capital Markets Advisors, bringing experience in Global Prime Brokerage, Derivative Exchange products, Central Clearing, and management across multi-asset derivative operations and product control. Van’s career achievements confirm the ability to successfully project manage and develop processing environments that mitigate systemic risk and reduce operating costs; launch global business initiatives predicated on central clearing of both exchange traded and OTC derivative products; as well as establish and manage global fixed income prime brokerage business units at top tier investment banks.
Van started his career in 1990 as an analyst on the interest rates derivatives desk at Lehman Brothers. Over a 12 year career at Lehman, Van held various management positions which included US Head of Fixed Income Derivatives Trade Support, Global Head of Fixed Income Prime Brokerage Client Service, and Global Head of Equity Derivatives Operations. In 2004, Van was hired by Merrill Lynch Global Prime Brokerage to build out and manage their Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) Prime business; which included custody services, repo financing and derivative clearing. In 2008, Van joined NYSE Euronext as US Head of Wholesale Services responsible for launching new futures products and clearing services for the LIFFE US. With a strong operations background, the CEO of NYSE LIFFE US appointed Van as a lead project manager for establishing the futures clearing operations for a new DTCC clearinghouse called New York Portfolio Clearing (NYPC). After successfully completing the project with DTCC in 2010, Van transitioned back to the sell side where he joined Barclays Prime Brokerage as US Head of Product Development for OTC Clearing.  In mid-2012 he left Barclays to start-up CMA.
